WorkBC Event Opens Employment Doors for Client

On June 23, WorkBC hosted an Open House for Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows residents to learn about the services and resources available at the Employment Centre. With staff on hand and refreshments served, guests also had the opportunity to meet a few local employers who were on-site pre-screening job applicants for positions they were hiring for.

Susie, a WorkBC client, stopped by the event during a break from an employment workshop she was participating in that day. She was excited to learn that employers were pre-screening clients at the event. She did some quick interview coaching with her WorkBC employment counselor to prepare for the introduction. That brief meeting resulted in a full interview the next day with the employer, followed by a job offer.

Susie was all smiles when she came in to share her news with us. She is now employed full time in a job she loves with a company that offers great career potential, full benefits, and a place to apply her skills and knowledge. Susie encourages anybody looking for employment in the area to connect with WorkBC and to attend the Job Fairs and Open House events. Congratulations Susie!
